Ms. Maudie
Ms. Maudie is a secondary character in To Kill a Mocking Bird, who lives across the street from the Finches. She is very modest lady who is obsessed with nature and more importantly her garden. When she heard the news her house burnt down, she was pleased to find that she had more space to plant more flowers. Her religious views are baptism as she is not a christian. Many religious people were against this and when they walked by her house they would tell her, her flowers are going to hell. Ms. Maudie came close to both Jem and Scout as she shared knowledge and advice about many things to help them grow towards being better people. She kept her distance from the trial and kept her viewpoints close, calling the trial a Roman Carnival in which Romans would gather to the slaughter of Christians.
