Atticus Finch
Atticus is the father of both Jem and Scout. He main role in the novel is being a father, as well as a upstanding lawyer. He is a respected man in Maycomb for his honesty and intelligence. Throughout the story Atticus is chosen to follow the case of Tom Robinson. Atticus tries his best to defend Tom Robinson in a position that isn't winnable. He still gets the respect of the town showing his personality and showing that black and white people are equal and deserve the same amount of rights and freedom. Atticus is an ideal man because he has the courage to stand up for what is right even if he has to stand alone to protect his children, and integrity. Atticus is looked at as a hero, and a father he did not see himself as a hero he just did what duty he had to do.
